Tesla Golden Spike Ceremony and Celebration

February 9, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

On October 14, 2018, Tesla completed the first all-weather North American coast-to-coast electric vehicle charging network when it activated the Tesla Supercharger in Fort Stockton, Texas. The Fort Stockton activation allows Tesla owners to travel from Florida to California on I-10 utilizing Tesla’s proprietary Supercharger network.
On February 9th members of the Tesla Motors Club will celebrate the occasion with a “Golden Spike” ceremony at 4:30 pm the Flying J Travel Center in Fort Stockton followed by a celebratory dinner at the Hotel Limpia in Fort Davis, Texas.
Access to Far West Texas by modern long-range battery-powered electric vehicles is a testament to the rapid evolution of the electric vehicle industry from producing quirky compact urban commuter vehicles to the comfortable long-range vehicles we see roaming our highways today.
Automakers from Aston Martin to Volvo have committed to join in the electrification of the transportation industry. Charging infrastructure to support electric vehicles continues to evolve with networks being constructed by Nissan, Porsche, the Volkswagen-funded Electrify America, and a host of privately-funded charging networks.
Charging opportunities for all-electric vehicles are offered at “Destination Chargers” installed at
the Hotel Limpia and similar locations in Far West Texas and across the nation.
